Any real boddybuilders out there I need help…..?
I’ve been working out for a while now…..i pretty much know what i’m doing….i do my research….i read all types of bodybuilding books and magazines but i still have one question that i cant figure out…..
i know overtraining is bad….but i have a few friends that are pretty big and do like 30-35 sets per bodypart
then i see others that are big doing like 12-20 sets per body part
and then i read some mags and see these profesionals routines where they only do like 3 workouts for each muscle and only do like 2 – 3 sets per workout….so thats only 9 sets per muscle
Any professionals bodybuilders out there that have some advice about which way is the best way to go (how many sets for each muscle is the best way for that muscle to grow to its full potentiol?)
I’m no professional, right…
But every body has there own ideas.. so it’s whatever works for you as long as you remain consistent.
A rule of thumb is that you do high reps of low weights to get lean, strip off the fat around the muscles which helps define them…
and you do low reps with high weights to get more mass … add bulk to the muscles which also helps define them.
If you are a scrawny little wimpy kid … go for bulk. If you are already built like a terminator and pack down in a rugby scrum… why not go for lean muscle?
A bulk program would be 8 – 10 reps in three or four sets… where you basically fail to lift the last rep or two. Here is a 4 day routine for example… http://www.redbak.net/pages/maximum.html
A lean muslce set would be 15 reps in four sets… where you back off the weight a little so that you can feel the burn but still complete.

Female Bodybuilders $28.54 An extraordinary series of portraits of female body builders by renowned photographer and artist Martin Schoeller.p[Schoeller's portraits] give the face, the human expression, a new dimension, and that’s why we keep looking at them. That’s what portraits are for, what they are all about.–David RemnickpFemale Bodybuilders is the second monograph by contemporary artist and photographer Martin Schoeller. Schoeller is considered a contemporary master of portrait photography. Through this and other magazines, he has photographed President Bill Clinton, Barak Obama, Tom Wolfe, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, and many others.pIn this work, he turns his unique style to female body builders. In Schoeller’s words: with Female Bodybuilders, I am trying to show the vulnerability that I see and feel in the subjects when I am with them, to get to the complex emotions behind a mask of extreme physical expression. These women mirror our modern cultural hunger for size, aggression, and attention at any cost. We are in the age of Bigness. This limited print-run monograph is a must-have for collectors of contemporary art and photography.pFrom 1993 to 1996, Martin Schoeller was an assistant to Annie Leibovitz. Women of Steel: Female Bodybuilders and the Struggle for Self-Definiti $43.96 An inside look at the fascinating and largely unknown world of women’s bodybuilding. Slice-of-life observer Maria R. Lowe introduces us to a world where size and strength must be balanced with a nod toward grace and femininity. For WOMEN OF STEEL, Lowe interviewed more than 100 individuals, from the bodybuilders themselves to trainers, family members, spouses, judges, and sponsors. 20 photos.pA lot of people in the general public think female bodybuilding is gross and freaky . . . that that’s not what a woman is supposed to look like. So says Michelle, a national bodybuilding judge. In fact, athletic women, especially those in sports where strength, muscle, and sweat feature prominently, are typically viewed by the public as being outside the boundaries of appropriate femininity. And perhaps no group of women athletes embodies this gender outlaw status more than female bodybuilders, who by their bulk and sheer strength challenge our very notions of what it means to be a woman. Why would women choose to look like that? And what does it take to get and stay so muscular?pMaria R. Lowe has interviewed more than one hundred people connected with women’s bodybuilding, from the bodybuilders themselves, to trainers, family members, spouses, judges, and sponsors. In Women of Steel, Lowe introduces us to a world where size and strength must be balanced with a nod toward grace and femininity. Lowe, who actually worked out with a couple of the bodybuilders she interviewed, gets at the heart of what it is to be a woman bodybuilder. We learn about paying the price–doing the necessary exercise, and sometimes drugs–that allows women to rise to the top of their profession. We follow their successes and failures, and discover the benefits– including increased self-esteem and physical strength–as well as the sometimes unhealthy effects of their training regimen, from dehydration to baldness to rampant acne to high blood pressure. We travel with the women from competition t@EúáG®{ÿ¾Úx |
