Two of the favorite teams to win the National league according to Sportsbook odds are the Phillies and Mets who will face each other in an interesting series this upcoming week in New York City.
Phillies LHP Heal Cormier gave up his first earned run of the season. After allowing a pair of inherited runners to score on a Prince Fielder’s double; Cormier gave up an RBI double to Corey Koskie that scored Fielder. Cormier has a 0.69 ERA in 13 innings after giving up the run.
OF David Dellucci, starting in left field for Pat Burrell, hit his first home run as a Phillie in the first inning Wednesday night; an opposite-field shot. After opening the season 2-for-18 Dellucci has six hits in his last 15 at-bats.
SS Jimmy Rollins snapped a 2-for-27 slump with a ninth-inning single Wednesday night.
1B Ryan Howard is making teams pay for bringing in mediocre southpaw relievers against him. His RBI single off LHP Brian Shouse on Wednesday night improved his average against left-handers to .311 (14-for-45).
INF Alex Gonzalez continues to falter as a bench player. He went 0-for-2 Wednesday to lower his average to .097 (3-for-31), and there is reason to wonder whether the Phillies will send OF Chris Roberson back to the minors when Aaron Rowand is healthy enough to return from the disabled list.
Mets LF Cliff Floyd was back in the starting lineup Wednesday after getting two hits the previous night. “I won’t say that I’m there,” said Floyd, who sat out the Saturday and Sunday games at Milwaukee because he was slumping, “but I feel a little better. If I keep swinging like that, I’ll be all right.”
RHP Brian Bannister will make a rehab start Thursday for Triple-A Norfolk against Toledo. Bannister threw 83 pitches in a simulated game last Saturday. Barring complications, Bannister could conceivably pitch next Wednesday against Philadelphia.
RHP Jeremi Gonzalez will make his second start since being brought up from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday against the Yankees. Gonzalez is 1-2 with a 4.30 ERA lifetime in seven appearances against the Yankees while pitching for Tampa Bay and Boston.
Mets chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon was is in St. Louis for the series to study the Cardinals’ new park and talk with club officials about any operating problems in the new Busch Stadium. The fact-finding trip is to prepare him for when construction of the Mets’ new park begins this summer.

The incredible true story of world-class bodybuilder Chris Cormier’s fight to get back to the top ranks of the sport after a tragic back injury left him unable to walk. Told in intense up-close-and-personal style by Chris himself, Unfinished Business presents an unflinching look at what it means to be a champion. As Chris says, When I was lying on my back after being on the go for all my life I never had to lay there and think ‘Well it is burning inside of my heart to do what I do. This is what God put me here to do. He can give it or take it away.’ So while I was forced to ponder about my life and what I wanted out of it, I just needed to change some things about my life and redo it like a real champion would! It was the lowest point in my life, but I must say people who wrote me – that we never even met – gave me so much will to want to make a big comeback – This time it will be 110%.

BODYBUILDING competitions have always been a top attention drawer and a box-office hit in the United States and elsewhere in the world. This discipline has also produced a number of big names in Hollywood. Not everyone knows though that this discipline is not generally accepted by sports governing bodies as a legitimate sport. Hopes of bodybuilding becoming into a legitimate sport is pinned down by drug controversies, which has hounded the discipline and the bodybuilders themselves.
Tainted with drugs
According the sports governing bodies, accepting bodybuilding as a legitimate sport would somehow tarnish the sports community as a whole amidst reports that some bodybuilders are actually using drugs to enhance their physique.
While there may really be some bodybuilders using enhancing drugs like steroids, there are those who developed enviable muscles and toned bodies the natural way.
True enough, there are really those who cheat in bodybuilding competitions. What else is new? Even outside the bodybuilding circle, there are cheats, and use of drug enhancers too. In fact, most (if not all sports) are tainted with drug controversies.
There are sport events, professional at that, that ends up in brawl because of the players’ unsportsmanlike behavior and yet it continues to reap patronage, popularity and revenue. There are many other sports rocked with the controversy brought about by an athlete, who has been found using illegal drugs to enhance his performance during the games. There are sports disciplines that were subjected to probe because of illegal gambling and game fixing.
And yet, they remain a legitimate sports discipline, generally accepted and recognized by international sporting organizations like the International Olympic Committee.
Punishing all for the sin of a few
As clamor grows for the inclusion of bodybuilding as a legitimate sport, so is its popularity and general awareness of what has lately been happening in the bodybuilding circle.
Efforts have been made to rectify lapses in the past involving musclemen into drugs, but it just seemed not enough to convince the sports governing bodies to reconsider.
To these sports governing bodies, there is just no way men, would be able to develop huge muscles without going into drug enhancers, even in the midst of a jam-packed auditorium where the general paying public show their acceptance by patronizing bodybuilding tilts.
Repackaging the image of bodybuilding
Amidst controversies hounding their bid to become a legitimate sport, there have been steps taken to repackage the reputation of bodybuilding.
From simply “bodybuilding”, the discipline is now being referred to as “natural bodybuilding” To the people behind the discipline it is far more different that what used to be. It’s all natural, as the new label says.
Natural bodybuilding has made a sweeping claim that greater majority in their circle are there for the right reasons. On top of the “right reasons”, they claim to have professionalism and right attitude in and out of the arena.
All natural
Accordingly, the men and women behind “natural bodybuilding” have internal safety nets in place to ensure that the methodology that their “athletes” is into is all natural. How natural could “natural” be?
The new musclemen who form their frontline are equipped with the right approach to training and a disciplined mindset, allowing positive yields insofar as physical conditioning is concerned. No drug enhancers, but longer hours spent on training, body toning and weightlifting. Claims of a more comprehensive nutritional program is also said to be in place. GP

"This massive and authoritative Master Blaster book is the greatest bodybuilding book ever written, primarily because it is firmly based on the training principles of the Weider System of Bodybuilding, which have been followed by literally every bodybuilder in the modern history of the sport. I began developing my Weider System back in the 1930s and continue to refine and add new Weider Training Principles to it. You can rely on the information I present in this book to improve your physique. Good luck!" — Joe Weider On Instinctive Training "One of the most fundamental secrets of successful bodybuilding is getting to know your body and how it reacts to various training and nutritional practices. Unless you have finely honed your instinctive training ability, it will take many weeks, even months, to evaluate each experiment. It definitely pays to master the Weider Instinctive Training Principle." — Franco Columbo, two-time Mr. Olympia On Progression "The key to building massive, powerful muscles is to doggedly increase the training weights you use. But it is only good to increase training poundage if you do so in perfect form. There is a direct correlation between the amount of weight you use with perfect biomechanics in an exercise and the mass of muscles that move that weight." — Lee Haney, three-time Mr. Olympia On Muscle Confusion "Once I reached the advanced level of bodybuilding and started entering competitions, I discovered that I quickly became bored with a set training program. I began to use the Weider Muscle Confusion Principle, changing to a new and more challenging routine every time I came into the gym to bomb a particular body part." — Lou Ferrigno On Supersets "Since supersets constitute a big jump in training intensity, I always tell bodybuilders new to the Weider Supersets Training Principles to experiment with supersets, compounding movements for the biceps and triceps, or forearm flexors and forearm extensors." — Albert Beckles, IFBB World Pro Grand Prix Champion

Generally, people think of body building equipment as weight machines. While weight machines are some of the best ways to work specific muscle groups, there is still a lot of other body building equipment you can use to help tone and work your muscles to their fullest potential.
Bodybuilding equipment includes those materials that help bodybuilders increase their muscle mass and sculpt muscles. Such equipment normally includes different sized weights and is either used as a part of a weight training machine or as free weights (those weights free of the machine). What is most important in the use of this bodybuilding equipment is proper technique.
When you switch to bodybuilding without a gym, your muscles work naturally, using the weight of your own body to exercise the muscles. Common exercises such as chin-ups, push-ups, lunges and squats are all exercises you can use to develop a workout to any level of intensity, depending on your fitness. As bodyweight bodybuilding has no requirement for weights or specific equipment, it can be worked easily in to a busy schedule. All in all, it is a fully rounded “super” workout.
There are so many ways to start your bodybuilding experience in the gym. So, if you want to get a good gym membership then it’s worth looking for one as soon as you’ve decided to get going.
Barbells- barbells, aside from being heavier than dumbbells, have many uses and are key to the success of any beginning bodybuilder. If you can, try to find an Olympic sized set for your own home gym. As a general rule, keep all your weights in a cool, dark place, away from moisture and pets. (Pets might soil your weights if they’re allowed to wander in your home gym)
Avoid from falling prey under bodybuilding hazards. A bodybuilder has got to do what a bodybuilder has got to do so before you the gym (you could also work out at home) and start lifting weights, you need to keep in mind and do several safety precautions for bodybuilding. Were not saying that a possibility of you getting hurt during training is high, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
For bodybuilding, which includes muscle building, the fitness equipment you need include weight lifting equipment, free weights sets, dumbbells, crunch machines, abdominal machines, abdominal straps, abdominal boards and rockers, and different kinds of benches. You can also use lat machines, leg press machines, calf machines, chest toners, inversion tables, arm equipment, and gym racks. For weight loss, you can use fitness equipment such as waist trimmers, support belts, thermal suits, yoga mats, and other yoga products.
Whatever type of training you choose, whether home based or gym based, the type of fitness equipment you will purchase should depend on the goal of your training. This time, your choices boil down to three: bodybuilding, weight loss, and cardiovascular training.
Next to this comes the weight you need for your equipment. Try to keep the weight of your equipment equivalent to what you can accomplish. For example, if you think you can’t finish a 6-8 rep by using heavy equipment, reduce the weight. Its better that you can start with light equipment and then slowly adjust it to heavier weights eventually.

What’s the best women’s only gym for younger women?
I know we’ve got Curves – but I’ve heard they use hydraulic equipment which is supposed to make it easier for the middle-aged women. I’ve also heard of ShapExpress which uses both hydraulic and cardio equipment. Are there any other women’s only gyms out there?
Are you looking for one that doesn’t use hydraulic equipment? I used to go to Curves, and it was mostly older women. Now I go to Ladies Workout Express (http://www.ladiesworkoutexpress.com/) and the girls are more my age (I’m 24), though it is mixed. I, too, would prefer a female gym with more equipment, but haven’t found any so far.
